Rustic Gatehouse

The Objective: Create a guest house recalling the “Great Camp” architecture of the Adirondacks without incurring significant maintenance.

AxD conveyed a sense of rustic shelter for this lakeside guesthouse by using broad roof eaves that also protect the exposed natural wood structural members and shingle siding. Factory-finished lap siding and clad wood windows on the lower wall areas provide increased durability and minimize need for seasonal repainting.
