We approach each architectural project with a “beginner’s mind” – not with what worked for someone else under different circumstances. We are responsive to each project’s specific needs and unique opportunities. We tailor architecture to fit each situation.
The intimate studio environment of AxD allows the principal Ed Barnhart to function as the primary designer and go-to "point person" for each project. This assures continuity of communication, design direction, and quality control.
We take a very hands-on approach to our work. Our first project was a small vacation residence gatehouse – designed and erected by the project team. All of our architectural design, detailing, specifications and construction supervision are done in-house.
Our business is founded on referrals and repeat clients and collaborators. We work to make every relationship a success and the basis of a long term relationship.
